Where has the time gone???

I am almost 2 months behind on posting and have been getting heck for it...so I will try my best to catch those of you up that follow - that is if you have not given up on me posting!!! :)

The last 2 months have been a whirlwind. Right after Easter the hubby and I got to get away for 4 days to the beautiful Tulum, Mexico. It was a much needed vacation and we had a wonderful time. My brother got married to a beautiful lady that I am proud to call my sister in law. The wedding was gorgeous. We enjoyed many "adult" beverages and stayed up way too late every night but it was worth it. We missed the girls but since we vacationed when Kate was 6 months old, we were prepared for the time away from them. I highly recommend new mommys and daddys to get time away sometime in the first year. It is so good to reconnect and spend so much time together.

After the trip we were back in the grind of daily life. We headed to San Antonio for my brother's reception. Aunt Panda came in from New York for the special event and of course Kate and Kara were instantly attached to her. Why wouldn't they though????

The following weekend the girls, my mom and I took a rode trip to Houston for my cousin's baby shower. The 4 hour car trip actually went really well! I was surprised we made it with very little tears in the car. All 4 of us even slept in a hotel room together! My mom and I slept very little due to baby night noises and the fact that Kate slept in my mom's side all night long. Regardless, we still had a great time. We headed bacy to San Antonio for a few days after the shower. On my way back I stopped to see Jenny and Rebekah. Kara has a new best friend. She LOVED her. She kept staring at her and trying to "swing" her in the swing. Very cute. I am so glad I was able to hang out with my best friend Jenny as well. I miss her so so much! I am fortunate though to have been able to see her and Bekah a lot lately!

In the midst of all this Kara is WALKING!!!!! Crazy!! She started around 10 months old. She still chooses to crawl more times than not but she is totally walking on her own. It is so funny to see her cruise around the house. And she is so proud of herself as well. We think she thinks she is a big girl now!

A big milestone for Kate was that she finished her first year of preschool last week! I cannot believe it. She is such a big.....little girl :)

Kate also had 2 other HUGE milestones. She moved to her big girl bed last weekend. Yikes! It has been interesting. Naps have not been very successful. She thinks it is play time and is definitley challenging me. I have been encouraged to stick to my guns and not let down on naps. She napped well this weekend so hopefully this week will prove to be better - pray for me! Nightime has been ok. She takes a while to get to sleep and is becoming afraid of the dark. Swants lights on and her door opened. My mom reminded me that I was the exact same way. I guess every day is a work in progress. She does LOVE her bed though so thank goodness for that!

The other big thing was that we finally got rid of the pacifier. Kate only has only had it at bedtime for the since December but it was time to be done with it. We figured we we do the bed and pacifier at the same time and hype up the fact that she is a big girl now. We had the paci fairy come while Kate was at school. That morning we put a pretty gift bag on her bed and put the pacifier in it. I told her the paci fairy would come and take her paci and take it to a baby that needed it. She would also bring her a present. Well, the paci fairy was very nice. She brought Kate bubbles, lollipop, a pink flashlight, chapstick, and stickers. Kate was very happy and has done awesome with not needing the pacifier. Every once in a while she will mention it but we remind her of the paci fairy and she goes about her business. Whew...... I was preparing for sleepless nights!!!

So this is all why I have not posted in a while. Good excuses right??? haha.. I plan to be better. Happy June! Happy hot weather! And happy lots of swimming!!!
