Yes, you read correctly...we are potty training! Honestly, I was not that motivated to start it. I knew there would be accidents, tantrums, defiance...things I totally did not want to deal with. BUT I knew this was our chance because Kate was off from preschool for 2 weeks. It was either try now or wait until the summer. So, last Sunday we started. Kate and I went on a "mommy Kate date" and bought princess panties and princess pull ups. She was so excited. I was too! It was such a fun outing for us both. We got home and she went on the potty a few times. Had a few accidents in the panties a few times. Honestly, I think she was having accidents so she could try on another pair of princess panties. I should have never bought the 8 pack!! haha! So Sunday came around and all of a sudden she was over the potty. Refused to go. It was a fight now. I was about to throw in the towel by Tuesday but after a much needed pep talk from my mom and a few friends we pushed through. By Wednesday Kate was potty training like a champ. Since then she has done amazing! Even over Christmas and being out of town she kept on. We are so very proud of her. She gets so excited to use the potty now. She even goes to her potty now by herself minus her calling us in the bathroom to "look" at what she has done. haha...
So after one week of potty training, I can say it has not been as bad as I thought it would be. I have learned that - like with most things - just give them time and they will succeed. Some may say that I waited too long to potty train at age 3 but I think we did it at the perfect time. She understands what she is doing. I have not had to resort to bribing her with candy or giving it as a reward. Although ,we totally do the potty dance and scream and praise over and beyond. She is proud of herself and feels like a big girl.
And......I am so excited to only have one in diapers right now!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.......

Hi Christy,
Kam told me you guys were making the move. I'm with you when the kiddo is ready its a piece of cake. I think with Ellie we had "the potty song" which was itsy bitsy spider. Don't ask me how or why but I guess it worked.
I've also heard the girls are easier... our little guy could put out fires the way he's spraying from the changing table!
We'll see you guys soon.
