"Lessons" and train ride

Ah, it is summer and it is dang hot out! Seriously I feel like the little energy I had is totally zapped after being outside for 5 minutes! ha! So we are trying to find indoor things or earlier morning outside activities and trying to stay home more. But staying home more means getting creative as well. I decided to begin "lessons" with the girls while Colin naps in the morning. The girls are super excited about it and honestly I am too. I mean, why not take advantage of teaching them more? They are sooooo eager to learn and I should foster that eagerness. So we made a trip to mardel and purchased some workbooks. I am not a huge fan of the workbook BUT i found some really great ones that are super fun for preschoolers. They have lots of different learning activities in each lesson. Kate is working on shapes and Kara is working on colors. Although they both know all their shapes and colors, these books are guiding them through drawing shapes, finding shapes in real world pictures, comparing sizes of shapes, writing/tracing the color and shapes words. here are a few pictures from one of our lessons together..... I hope we can make this a habit now :)

Diligently working oin their workbooks... :)

I even whipped out the couting bears and we made patterns. Here Kara is totally not getting it. I asked her what came next and she said "2" Ummm....we worked more on patterns after that one! haha!

We also rode the forest park train as well this week. It was pretty hot but the wind helped on the ride. we went with our good friends and the girls all had a great time sitting by themselves on the train together.

a photo attempt with colin...

such a big boy!

he really enjoyed the ride! haha! he is passed out on the bottle....
