Fun weekend!!!

We were excited about this past weekend because we actually had plans for the 4th. Usually on the 4th we make last minute plans with friends or travel and then get everyone in bed by 8. Not sure the las time I actually stayed awake to see fireworks! haha. This year though we had plans and the girls were super excited to get the started. Too bad they had to wait all weekend for them though :) We started the weekend off surprising the girls with buying them new bikes. We took them to toys r us and let them look at everything. I am sure they asked 1,000 times if they could get this or that. Luckily they were good about us saying "not this time, we are just here to look." We then headed to the bike aisle and they immediately tried out every bike. Kate was sure she was getting one but daddy said we would go home and talk about it. She busted out the fake tears and said, "this was suppose to be a happy day but now it is a very sad day!!!" Poor, deprived child :) We just laughed at her and moved on. Kameron secretly paid for the bikes and I took the girls to the car. They asked a million times where daddy was and he finally came to the car with two bikes in tow. They were shocked and not sure what to say but smile :) We got home and the girls tried them out. Kara is a pro but big sis kate was a bid timid. She is our cautious one. Here they are with their new rides....

We had friends over for dinner sunday night and enjoyed grilling out while the kids played in the sand table. I am so thankful our girls make friends quickly and can play with almost anyone. One couple had an 18 month old and the other couple had two boys ages 3 and 7. I was a bot nervous about the boys enjoying themselves amongst all the very girly toys BUT our girls made them feel at home and they played outside for most of the night. We also whipped out the wii and the kiddos played that as well. we have actually never played it with the girls in the 4 years we have had the wii. Not sure why, just haven't. They loved it though and asked to play the next morning.

On the fourth we headed out front to the big neighborhood fourth of july parade. It was fabulous! The Fort Worth convertible club made up most of the parade. There were convertibles from old to new and in every color. It was really neat. Next came the volkswagon club. different group of folks but very spirited :) They all threw candy out at the kids and of course a firetruck came through as well. It was a lot of fun! I did not get as many pictures as I would have liked but here are a few to get the idea :)

Cool convertible...not sure the age though

Vintage firetruck

After the parade and lunch we managed to get all the kids down for naps so we could continue festivities at Colonial for swimming and fireworks. We swam and ate dinner, then headed to the golf course to make our stake to watch the fireworks that evening. It was a great time with good friends. Glad we got to celebrate this year!

Colin was a trooper!
