Spring Break week o' fun part 1

This week is spring break for us. Plans changed a bit and we are all home this week. I put my "fun mommy" hat on and planned out a week o' fun! I have decided to start posting now or I know I would never get to it :) Shoot, I still have not posted christmas, valentines, the list goes on and on!...Anyway, as I started to think out the week and what fun we would have I had to be realistic in the fact that we have 3 very energetic, and at times dramatic children. Plans had to be things they would want to do, not necessarily what I wanted to do... ( i.e. go spring clothes shopping, take long naps, read a book while they play at the park...haha)
So, we started off our week o' fun with a movie night, on a palette, with popcorn AND m&m's, AND in OUR bedroom, AND ALL NIGHT! What a treat! And what a treat it was when I presented the idea. See, I have to approach my ideas with caution to Miss Thing (aka Kate)...don't get too excited, simply suggest, go at it with it being "her" idea, and you win :) The girls were pumped about the fact that they got to sleep in our room all night. Colin started out watching the movie but we sent him on his way to his room when his bedtime came. It was really fun.
(pre - movie)
Intently watching....
On Monday, we went to the zoo. Yes, I admit I was totally crazy for going on the first day of spring break on an 80 degree weather day with every other DFW citizen and then some. And, yes, it was totally packed. But, I told myself to put on my big girl panties and have fun! The kids had fun ...not sure if they liked watching the animals or the people more....there was some dang good people watching there on Monday :) We topped off our afternoon with ice cream...such a treat for my sweet tooth kiddos! We played with the neighbors that afternoon and all slept very well. I did not get a picture sadly :(
Tuesday, we slept in and played in the sandbox all morning. I just bought our first bag of sand for the season so this was a very special treat. The kids were disgustingly sandy and muddy and oh so cute. We managed to play outside until about 2.
Colin found a "secret place" to dig in the scary shed behind our garage. I am convinced this shed has been here as long as our house....really....
Colin went down for a nap and the girls and I got to baking. We read a very cute book "Itty Bitty Bakery".Its about an elephant who is a baker and goes on baking all day on her birthday and realizes at the end of the day she never celebrated her day with cake. So in the middle of the night her mice friends make a cake for her using every ingredient they can get a hold of. They call it a tumble jumble cake. At the end of the story is a recipe. So.....the girls and I made a tumble jumble cake. (it was pretty awful, but they seemed to like it!) It was fun to bake with the girls and spend some time with just them :)
After dinner Tuesday night, the girls went on a date with daddy to get ice cream. Boy, do they love him!!!! And so do I!!
More to come on our super fun Wednesday. And, what is in store for Thursday and Friday??? Stay tuned....:) You know you can't wait!
