Last night was a night like any other night. Kate went down around 8 and we settled on the couch to watch the movie The Good Shepard. Not a good movie to watch when you are tired - it was long and slow. I of course fell asleep within 30 minutes of turning it on. We both feel asleep and Kameron woke me to head downstairs. We both could have sworn it was midnight but it was only 9:30. We thought "How great - we will get great sleep tonight - in bed early for a change!" Little did we know our night had just begun...
About 10 I heard the first bark. I thought it would not last long - the dog always barks for whatever reason for a few minutes and then chimes down - BUT I was wrong! It barked nonstop for over an hour and a half. I think I may have slept about 20 minutes of that hour and a half. I woke up to Kameron standing at the blinds trying to figure out where the dog was. I then see him walking out of our room and turing off the alarm. What was he going to do??? He went in the backyard and beat at the fence repeatedly shouting to shut up- of course provoking the stupid dog even more. I was half asleep and mad. I just knew Kate was going to wake up to all this. I went in the back yard and as loud as I could yelled - HUSH! Kameron was shocked I did this and we went inside. As we looked out, the neighbors took the dog inside and shut off their porch light. Kameron and I got into bed and laughed at how ridiculous we must have looked and heard. But that next few hours of silence were golden and I do not feel one bit of guilt for screaming at midnight in the backyard. Funny thing is- it did not even phase Miss Kate. She slept until 2:30am. The things you will do for just one extra hour of sleep...
And another thing - I don't want a dog now unless it is mute! (just kidding - kind of)
